Mozart and Haydn – a musical conversation

One of the world’s leading period instrument string quartets, the London Haydn Quartet was born out of a passion for Haydn. The group has recently released the final volume of its complete Haydn quartets on the Hyperion label, a project 16 years in the making, which has been met with international critical acclaim. This programme, which includes Mozart’s String Quartet in E flat K428 and Haydn’s String Quartet in G op 77 no 1, reflects a musical ‘conversation’ between Mozart and Haydn, and the players will illustrate how each composer clearly inspired the other.
