O Haupt – Music by JS Bach, CPE Bach, Telemann and Janitsch

During the first half of the eighteenth century, sonatas resounded in all European courts and were written in large numbers by Telemann, Janitsch and Bach, among others. Belgian-based Musica Gloria performs sonatas in various styles and instrumentations. The name of the programme refers to Janitsch’s melancholic sonata da camera, which he named after the well-known chorale O haupt voll Blut und Wunden (O Sacred Head, now Wounded).
